Winter Policy 2019

The Golf Club will implement the Winter Policy from Monday 4th November 2019 in order to protect our course from the worst of the winter weather when it comes

• Fairway mats must be used on all closely mown turf including the first cut of rough.
• Playing from the turf is allowed if outside 1 metre from the edge of the fairway
• Mats must be used on ALL Par 3 tees – Mats can be purchased at the bar or office priced at £7.
• Trollies must have winter tyres
• The use of trollies, manual or electric and ride-on buggies will be decided daily
• Please note the use of Winter Tees during this period

In addition to these measures, we will rope/stake sensitive areas and use directional arrows to manage traffic. Relevant signage will be put in place on the Course Information board and at the relevant tees, fairways and bunkers. This will come from PGC and AllGrass staff. Please observe ALL signage as directed in the interests of Health & Safety for all players, green-staff and contractors working on our behalf.

Our Summer course signage will be removed from course for renovation

All new tee markers will be replaced with the old tee-markers

Our Sponsors flags will be hibernated for Winter and old flags used.

Further drainage works at the 2nd green have been completed (re-turfing by Christmas). To maximise the winter programme bunkers will not be maintained fully, however old bunkers will be in play under a ‘LIFT, RAKE AND PLACE POLICY’. All bunkers renovated last season will remain in play and will be maintained.

Bunker & Drainage strategy – work has already started and will continue through the winter period. Members should note that any balls landing/resting in or around areas of earth works are considered GUR during this winter. Your ball must be moved to the nearest point of relief without penalty. Various GUR signage will be apparent during these works but we cannot cover all areas in this moving target. Please do your best to protect the course.
Members are reminded that when main greens are closed due to weather conditions, these greens should not be walked on during these times. Walking across frosty greens (to the next tee for example) can damage the green with golf shoe burn marks left after it thaws – it’s not a perfect science, we appreciate all support.
Please ensure that all fellow members & visitors are aware of our Winter Policy before commencing play. Every player MUST have a mat to play the par 3’s otherwise they are not allowed to play that hole.

Thank you very much for your support & patience during this busy winter period.
